Ich stehe vor einem großen Problem, keine Modifikation funzt

Vorgeschichte: Ich betreue eine Vereinsseite und die hat ein Forum. In mein altes Forum hatte ich viel Zeit und Energie gesteckt, etliche Modifikationen eingebaut, aber genug davon. Mir stehen zwei Datenbanken zu Verfügung.

Aufgrund von gewissen Umständen, die hier uninteressant sind, installierte ich 3.0 RC 7 in die zweite, bisher ungenutzte Datenbank. Der Forumsinhalt wurde aus der ersten in die zweite DB konvertiert. Alles kein Problem, es lief bzw. läuft.
Nun wollte ich "meine Leute" wieder mit den gewohnten MODs erfreuen, u.a. GENDER MOD, WER WAR HIER (von nickvergessen) und einigen anderen. Aber jetzt kommt es zu meinem großem Fragezeichen.

Nach allen Änderungen "spinnt" das Forum. Die Startseite zeigt vor dem eigentlichen Header folgendes:

Was mache ich falsch??? Bin der Verzweiflung nahe!

scheint so, als wären dir an den Anfang einiger php-Dateien eine Leerzeile gerutscht.
Guck mal in allen Dateien nach, speziell /includes/constants.php und /index.php und lösche eventuell vorhandene Leerzeilen vor

@nickvergessen: Nein, sind keine Leerzeilen in den Dateien bei allen Änderungen. Hab das extra viermal kontrolliert

@Kendoo: Was willst du mir damit sagen? Wie und wo stell ich denn die "Byte Order Mark" ein?

Der Editor Notepad++ bietet diese Einstellmöglichkeit. Das sieht dann so aus:

Danke für die Hilfe! Habe die Dateien als UTF-8 ohne BOM kodiert und jetzt klappt es! Ist zwar merkwürdig, aber man lernt nie aus

das ist ganz und gar nicht merkwürdig, denn phpbb3 ist nunmal utf-8 codiert

Naja, dann werde ich die anderen Modifikationen mit dem entsprechenden Editor machen. Aber darauf muss man erst mal kommen
