Sending a Guest an e-mail before permission to join

Sorry I will write in English.
If a guest sends me a request to join the forum, I (administrator) want to send the guest an e-mail first to ask why he/she wants to join the forum. This is to avoid spammers.
I can do that very well in the English phpBB forum, but in the German version I can only send a Private Message to the guest, which means that they have to go to the forum to read it. A general e-mail would be so much easier. Is it possible to find the Guest's e-mail address somewhere in their request??
