Was ja eigentlich falsch ist, denn dann hast du jetzt
/htdocs/xampp/phpBB3 vorhanden, da lautet der Aufruf http://localhost/xampp/phpbb3

Ja. Ich habe das mit dem Pfad beachtet bei der Eingabe. Habe auch schon den phpBB3 Ordner ausserhalb von xampp abgelegt was auch nicht funktionierte.
Ich schick Dir mal die letzten Einträge vom Protokoll. Mit denen kann ich gar nix anfangen und vielen Dank für die Zeit die Du Dir nimmst.

Ich habs jetzt.

Link muss lauten https anstatt http. Dann dem Zertifikat Vertrauen schenken und schon kommt man zur Installation.
Warum, weshalb, wieso weiß ich nicht.
Jedenfalls trotzdem vielen vielen Dank für Eure Unterstützung. Ich denke in den nächsten Tagen werde ich die nochmal in Anspruch nehmen (müssen).

Muss auch mit http:// gehen, denn das https:// wird intern im Apache anders gehandelt.

Was ich aber am log auffällt ist das, scheinbar in deiner HOSTS datei keine 127.0.0.1 localhost definiert ist, denn im log findet sich das hier:

Es sollte aber so heissen

Das heisst für mich das intern auf dem Laptop etwas nicht aufgelöst werden kann.
Oder versuchst du über einen externen Domainnamen (etwa ein DynDNS Namen) auf den XAMPP zu zugreifen ?


Aber generell ist es ja nicht schlimm ob über https:// oder nicht

Hast Du SKYPE nebenbei am laufen ?
