FTP Directory
Most of all it is important that you don't put the slash (/) at the end of the path.
Second thing to remember is that (in most cases) this path is not the same as you would put in your main configuration settings (in Administration Panel). Usually the path is different because FTP servers hide the real directory structure of the web server.
So the path needs to be the same as the one that you have to walk through when using your FTP client to get to your forum (there should be a file like extension.inc there). Common settings would be:
* public_html/phpBB2
* public_html/forum
* httpdocs/phpBB2
* httpdocs/forum
* board_name/phpBB2
* board_name/forum
* phpBB2
* forum
* / (this usually means that you don't actually have anything else on your FTP server than the forum)
